Regency Wedding Gown


The bodice of the Regency wedding gown is usually gathered in the front and the back, with a deep, squared-off neckline. The full skirt is attached just under the bustline, frequently covered with a band of trim. The sleeves are usually short and puffy, but can be long and tiered. A small train can also be incorporated into this style, and is a beautiful addition to a Regency wedding gown. Désirée - The Regency wedding ensemble shown at right and below is based on a court ensemble worn by Désirée Clary, the Queen of Sweden. The under gown is made of white silk dupioni and trimmed with organza rosettes on the sleeves and neckline. There is a band of embroidered ribbon around the hem. The trained over gown is made of wine silk dupioni and trimmed with white lace. The sleeveless coat ties closed in the front with satin ribbon. 	Emma - This Jane Austen style wedding gown is made of matte satin, fully lined, with an overlay of embroidered English net. The bodice is slightly gathered at the center front, and the puffed sleeves are sheer. The gown buttons up the back through ribbon loops.
