An Elizabethan noblewoman required a corset, a hoopskirt, and a bumroll to not only achieve the desired silhouette, but to support the weight of the fabric and jewels. A middle-class women could forego the bumroll, but she still required the corset and hoop. There are a myriad of variations on sleeve and hat styles, but the basic line is a square necked, v-dropped bodice, and a full, deeply-pleated skirt. Price range $350.00 and up, not including the underpinnings. |
