Lady's Elizabethan Gown

An Elizabethan noblewoman required a corset, a hoopskirt, and a bumroll to not only achieve the desired silhouette, but to support the weight of the fabric and jewels. A middle-class women could forego the bumroll, but she still required the corset and hoop. There are a myriad of variations on sleeve and hat styles, but the basic line is a square necked, v-dropped bodice, and a full, deeply-pleated skirt. 	Jane - The English noblewoman (red) features a velvet bodice and skirt, matching slashed sleeves and hat, all trimmed with metallic braid, a neck ruff, pouch, and feather fan. Jane - $1,000.00 as shown, not including underpinnings.

		Giselle - The French bourgeoisie (black) features a lace-edged partlet, silk bodice and skirt, "queen" sleeves, and a french hood over a snood. Giselle - $800.00 as shown, not including underpinnings.

	Viola


	Viola - The underskirt is a pale blue with a silver embroidered metallic lace front piece. The bodice of the gown is made of silk brocade, with a stomacher and sleeve caps matching the underskirt. The attached split skirt is cartridge pleated. The gown is trimmed around the neck and down the center front with hand-appliquéd silver metallic venetian lace. The partlet is silver metallic silk tissue topped off with a metallic lace-edged ruff, which matches the ruffs on the sleeves. The gown is fully lined and laces up the back.

Margaret - The English noblewoman (teal and black) features a brocade bodice and skirt over a pearled underskirt, puffed and ribboned sleeves, a flat cap trimmed with marabou over a pearled coif, and topped off with a black velvet partlet edged with lace and embroidered with chrysanthemums. Janet - This middle-class ensemble features a brocade bodice with picadils and an attached overskirt. The bodice and overskirt are lined. There is a blue satin placket which laces closed on both sides of the center front. The underskirt and chemise are made from matching satin.
